WORLD AIDS DAY 2022 : AGYW WERE PROVIDED WITH VOLUNTARY HIV TESTING SERVICES
On December 01st, 2022. YWCA Rwanda under the USAID/Igire-Wiyubake Activity, joined the rest of the world to commemorate World AIDS Day by reflecting on our contribution to the national fight against HIV/AIDS and honoring people who have died of AIDS-related illness in Rwanda.

At the national level, USAID/Igire-Wiyubake Activity joined the rest of the country to commemorate this day under the theme “Youth, let’s be at the forefront in HIV/AIDS Response”
USAID/Igire-Wiyubake in close collaboration with local authorities launched an awareness-raising campaign on HIV prevention in MASAKA Sector (Cyimo cell, Biryogo village).
The campaign brought together AGYW enrolled in the DREAMS program in Cyimo cell and other community members to increase awareness among young people of the life-threatening virus with access to information/services, testing, and treatment services.
During this campaign, USAID/ Igire-Wiyubake distributed 4,000 condoms to both AGYW and Male partners and 98 AGYW and their male partners were provided with voluntary HIV Testing Services (HTS).
The campaign also opens the door to the 3 months of youth-led HIV Prevention campaigns which will be conducted in all DREAMS safe spaces in the KICUKIRO district.
